Statewide TrainingWe coordinate many kinds of statewide sexual violence training opportunities. Some of these may be training for other professionals, such as the advocacy portion of the 40-hour Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner training, or the basic law enforcement sex crimes training component for the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Our trainings often include a local direct service provider to include the local advocates’ perspective. Additionally, annual statewide conference planners – such as the Maine Health Education Conference or the Comprehensive Sexuality Education Conference – may work with MECASA to coordinate or deliver workshops related to sexual violence. We occasionally create training programs or curricula (such as one on sexual harassment or one for DHHS case workers) that are available to providers to use and adapt.
