LGBTQIA2+*

*LGBTQIA+: stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and 2 Spirit. The ‘+’ is to acknowledge that language is limited, and the complex and beautiful genders and sexualities people have cannot be captured in one acronym. We live in a cultural that stigmatizes and systemically oppresses non-cis-gendered and/or non-straight people and the LGBTQIA+ category seeks to define and affirm those people.
Maine’s sexual assault support centers and allied organizations have come together to build capacity of Maine’s sexual assault support centers to better serve LGBTQIA2+ survivors of sexual violence.

Below are some of our favorite resources and support for LGBTQIA2+ survivors and sexual assault advocates.
